Tadiran Lithium Batteries - Telematics
Telematics is a technology area based around vehicle-based electronic systems designed for the collection and dissemination of data. Telematics is widely used in a number of transport industries including haulage and taxi companies. Vehicles are equipped with terminals which can access services such as on-line navigation and information services, emergency assistance and traffic assistance. It can also be used for vehicle tracking, deployment information as well as internet access, basically giving access to any form of knowledge from any remote location.
Many of these devices are used to provide safety critical information and for this reason, the remote devices used must have a reliable dedicated power source independent of e.g. the vehicle battery. The batteries used for these devices also need to cope with the high drain characteristics of the advanced technology used and should be able to operate in extreme conditions. For this reason, most telematics devices utilise Lithium technology including Lithium Ion for rechargeable applications and Lithium-thionyl chloride, Lithium-sulfur dioxide and Lithium-manganese dioxide for non-rechargeable needs.
