Rechargeable batteries are an ideal replacement for disposable primary-non rechargeable batteries, a cycle life of between 500 and 1000 charge-recharge cycles means these cells can be used again and again without the need to keep buying new cells. Another advantage with these cells is they perform much better with high drains and high pulse drain devices, such as Digital cameras, than standard Alkaline batteries. Tests conducted by Ansmann showed that a high performance Alkaline battery could take up to 100 photos before needing replacement; the Ansmann 2700mAh battery could take over 500 photos before needing to be recharged.
