Tank Level Monitors are used to monitor fluid levels in storage tanks, they come in many different forms from float monitors used in small to medium size tanks, to underground tank and remote wireless monitors.

Remote wireless monitors often use either low power radio, GSM cellular and GPRS-IP Video and Data Networks to transfer the data from a remote storage tank wherever a wireless connection can be made. This means plants can be monitored off site, or remote tanks can be monitored from a central control unit.

The environments Tank Level Monitors can be extremely hostile with conditions of high overload, shock, corrosion and extremes of temperature are common. The reliability of these devices must be exceptional due to the important function they provide. Progresses in technology have meant that the functions Tank Monitors can provide has increased dramatically and with this the power requirements have also become more demanding.

Lithium batteries are the only real technology which can deliver the electrical demands for this application; the ability of these cells to cope with a constant high drain current over extended periods without significant voltage drop means they are highly suited to this application. Sonnenschein and Tadiran produce a wide range of Lithium Thionyl Chloride cells to suit every environment, of particular interest is the High Temperature range of cells which are able to deliver high performance over an extended temperature range.
